Dark Forest Theory and Human Nature Explained
Why Dark Forest Theory Changes First Contact
First contact usually suggests discovery or connection. Dark Forest Theory suggests danger. Revealing your existence can make you a target because another civilization cannot know what you will become.
Why Trust Collapses At Cosmic Scale
Even peaceful intentions cannot be guaranteed forever. Technology changes, resources matter, and civilizations may become threats later. That uncertainty makes silence safer than openness.
How It Connects To The San-ti And Humanity
The San-Ti fear humanity's rapid progress, while humanity learns that cosmic civilization may operate by suspicion rather than friendship. Both sides are shaped by fear of future vulnerability.
Why The Theory Is Emotionally Disturbing
The theory is frightening because it removes moral comfort from intelligence. A smart universe is not necessarily a kind universe.
